Typically, I sketch out a diagram of the work to take place. Based on the schematics, I create a material list. Then, I go to the local home improvement store to price out the items at current retail.
As for the labor, I do not fabricate numbers that sound good, or what I would want to get paid to do the project. I refer to RS Means Guide To Home Improvements. RS Means is a data collector/number cruncher. They gather information regional, coast to coast, to help homeowners and those who do home improvements to accurately bid out a project. I type out an estimate and email to the respective client. Upon acceptance of the bid, the work date to begin is then scheduled. Payment is due upon completion of the project(s).

I started remodeling to pay for my way through college. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and still find myself making furniture, building cabinetry and working on a sundry of home improvement projects.
